Creative Technology for Artists
I've worked with various artists over the past few years to help them develop their artwork. This work has been focused on developing applications that integrate with the natural world in different ways.
For Ken Millington I built an application that takes real-time radio wave data and transforms that into smoothed out bubbles in a mesh, which is then projected onto a wall. Millington built the sculptural element seen on the floor, which contains a coaxial cable running along all of its ridges.
With photographer Arthur Ou I've been developing an application to control an AxiDraw machine and translate real-time weather data into steps to draw on photographic negatives with light. We replaced the pen on an AxiDraw with a fiber optic cable attached to an LED light, and use the cloud coverage of locations in the South China Sea to alter the brightness of the light (while moving the cable around the photographic negative).
